Anaretic Planets

Planets placed in the last degree of a sign - i.e. the 29th degree of 30 - often have a special role to play in the life of the person concerned. This last degree is known as the Anaretic degree, and although it doesn't have a great deal of effect on the birthchart, it can bring about times throughout life when prompt, urgent and important decisions must be made. This is especially true of the outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, who pass through the Anaretic degree less often than the Sun or Moon, for example.

Each planet acts in its own way - Jupiter will bring about times when serious moral or ethical choices have to be made. Often the person concerned may be caught between religious beliefs and the mores and wishes of society. The sense of urgency that the Anaretic degree brings means that decisions have to be made in a rush - which does not always allow for considered thinking. Anaretic Neptune in the birthchart suggests that secret matters and affairs come into the open, or may need to come into the open - the decision is there to be made and time is of the essence.

If you have a planet in an Anaretic degree in your chart, you have to learn to trust your instinct and intuition to make the right choice should the opportunity present itself. Often these events seem to sneak up on you, and although you might think you know the best way, the result is not always the one you would have thought of originally.
