Libra

Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac, the second Air sign and is Cardinal or outgoing in nature. As befits the sign of balance, the Sun enters Libra when the days and nights are of the same length. Libra is all about balance - balance is fundamental to the well being of anyone with Libra strongly placed in his or her chart. That balance is achieved by bringing people together, for relationships lie at the heart of Libra. Libra is the romantic sign that requires everything and everyone to be in harmony.

Any planets placed in Libra in the natal chart add diplomacy and charm to the personality. There may be a sense of idealism and a desire for peace about the Libra person. On the other hand, too much Libra can mean indecisiveness and self-indulgence. Libra people can become resentful if things don't go their way.

Libra is ruled by Venus (like its cousin Taurus) and is linked with the seventh house of relationships. Libra is associated with trees such as ash, polar and apple whilst Libran flowers include large roses, hydrangeas, poppies, daisies and violets. Foodstuffs associated with this sign are such things as cereals, berries, mint, cayenne and beans. There are a number of colours associated with Libra - all shades of blue, pink and pale green. The Libran gemstone is the sapphire, although jade is often used as well. Libra is thought to originate from the harvest and the weighing of goods for taxation in Egyptian times.
